lyrics

The keester-kaster tilt of an unsteady social life
Her eyes are not showing any signs of remorse
A window-shopping widower to take her for a wife

The salad days were over when they served the second course
And deep within her heart she felt the workings of a king
"It's time," she said, " to trace the ugly rumor to its source."

Another Monday morning is an elementary thing
She holds her breath in the palm of her hand
She gives him a number and he gives her a ring

She isn't sure she's able to live up to his demands
His eyes go right through her just like butter through a knife
She's looking out the window at her bottles of chance

Block charades
Emergency cards
Toaster pastries on the way to work
Fixing panties with her handy mini skirt

oom...bam...sheesh

A Thursday night of waiting starts to drive the girl insane
The ringing cuts the silence with the sharpness of a child
She forced herself to listen to the falling of the rain

The working women like to read the calling of the wild
The tires on the driveway signal Friday night is here
Mascara makes her mother miss her daughter meek and mild

She's living in a chapter from a play by Norman Lear
Incarcerated cognant markers asking her to dance
Unprincipled perceptions of unmotivated fear

Another Sunday afternoon spent reading 'bout romance
The feelings of a grownup world that anyone could feign
She grabs a soda knocking over bottles of chance

Block charades
Emergency cards
Toaster pastries on the way to work
Fixing panties with her handy mini skirt

The band played up and down California, were popular at the UCD Whole Earth Festival, had a standing last-Friday-of-the-month gig at Hotel Utah in San Francisco, and were regulars at the Palms Playhouse when it was in Davis, Ca.
