lyrics

Sitting in a bed
Working on an epitaph
Feeling like a soldier
In a world full of aftermath
Heading for destruction
The hell in this infirmary
Taking my consent and turning
Me into a memory

The doctor walks in the room
With his stethoscope
He's got a smile on his face and says,
"I've got some good news son, I'v got some bad news son..."
"You get a holiday, but you're almost dead."

Sitting in a cold bed heavily sedated
Temperature rising to a hundred and eight
And I can't stand placing my life in the hands
Of someone who has never been worshipped by a band of
Brainwashed suckers watching television evangelists

Sitting in the office of a dentistry
The age old question, the curiosity
About why they always leave the room
When they x-ray your teeth
And dress you in a lead suit
Radioactivity

Oh what am I doing here
Why can I not flee
Psychopaths in the ward
I'm here to burn and bleed
My wife had a seizure and I was very ill
Medicare and Blue Cross
Cannot cover the bill

But I can't decide if I will live or die
And I often wonder why I even try
They're gonna cut me open and look inside
And take my organs for a ride
Well I wish I never put that pink dot
On my driver's license

Counting backwards from a hundred
To the beat of my heart
Concentrating all my efforts into staying alert
But my eyes are going heavy
I'm falling asleep
The world's going black and I'm starting to dream
About rusty scalpels and doctors who say, "oops!"

Surgery is over now
I'm lying in a bed
Relatives bend over me
Praying I'm not dead
Well there's a big red scar from my belly to my neck
My lungs were exposed to a bunch of strangers

Oh what am I doing here
Why can I not flee
I'm looking in the mirror
Someone's staring back at me
My medical insurance costs me more than what I make
I give and then I give and then they take, take, take!

But they just can't decide if I will live or die
And I often wonder why they even try
They're gonna cut me open and look inside
They're gonna take my organs for a ride
Well I wish I never put that pink dot
On my driver's license
