Right on,

Printed below is a message sent out to the Talking Heads internet mailing list by the guy who runs it (also happens to be the guy who keeps the unofficial Talking Heads web site – see below). I don’t think this represents a great marketing coup, but Frank had some nice things to say about our music.

Hey all,

Don’t worry, this is not about THE lawsuit, this is about just Lawsuit, a 10-piece band from San Francisco Bay Area who released their second CD, “Lawsuit EP,” a short while ago.

One of the members was so kind to send me a copy of this 5-track EP, which contains a song named “Byrne David Byrne.” I haven’t decided for myself yet if these kind of “tribute” songs are related to the subject of this mailing list/website or not, but for me everything with the name of one of the Heads (all four of them) on it is worth checking out.

As for Lawsuit’s song about Byrne, it’s simply brilliant and written in a funny Byrnish-style. The singer’s voice sounds like a mixture of Feargal Sharkey and Terry Allen and the band’s musical combination of rock with horns works out very well. Also, it’s the first-ever CD single package with the Artwork on the inside of the inlay I ever saw…

They should try to sign with RadioActive Records… ;)

about

LAWSUIT Davis, California

Once upon a time there was a band named Lawsuit. It was a 10-piece band, known for its quirky lyrics and its energetic live shows.

The band played up and down California, were popular at the UCD Whole Earth Festival, had a standing last-Friday-of-the-month gig at Hotel Utah in San Francisco, and were regulars at the Palms Playhouse when it was in Davis, Ca.

The band broke up in 1996.
