Re: Bedtime

Hey guys,

Here’s a thought:

I was talking to Chris Webster today and although I hate it when people tell me what to do, she told me something I kind of agree with.
She said she thought Bedtime was a cool tune that could probably be a number one hit single and she thought we should play it more often.

Not to stroke myself (I did that earlier if you know what I mean) but I think it would be cool to play this song at the LA show. As far as I can tell, the only reason we don’t put it in our showcase sets is because it doesn’t involve the entire band. Well then may be we should try to involve the entire band.

Jeri, do you think you could come up with some trumpet and trombone parts? Anthony and Dan do you think you could come up with something to do? Band, do you think this is a good idea?

I have noticed that no other song is more easily accessible to the audience than this one. Why? BECAUSE IT’S STUPID. But if we want to sell out and mindlessly grab the attention of record company hoseheads and we only have less than four months, let’s do it.

That’s what I think. What do you think?

Paul –

Not to sound like an asshole (that was my impression of Paul starting an e-mail), but haven’t you noticed that we *do* play Bedtime a lot? I mean, it’s definitely made the transition from third-set garbage-time song to a song we do in our standard 2-set show, and even a song we do in our one-set show (like the Sammies, f’rexample).

How often do you want to play it? Every set?

For the record, I love that song, too. I’m glad it’s made that transition.

Re: Bedtime

I think this is a great idea. All I need is a new train whistle. And Dan can just dance. Dancing is the universal sign for “no percussion.”

Re: Bedtime

Oh, I see. Like somehow a train whistle fits that song better than a tambourine.

Re: Bedtime

That’s not the only place a train whistle fits better than a tambourine.

Re: Bedtime

Well….. I hear that Dan can accommodate both the tambourine and the train whistle…. (and not the mouth blowing whistle…. real train whistle…. with steam and everything….) (god I watch to much later night TV.)

LAWSUIT Davis, California

Once upon a time there was a band named Lawsuit. It was a 10-piece band, known for its quirky lyrics and its energetic live shows.

The band played up and down California, were popular at the UCD Whole Earth Festival, had a standing last-Friday-of-the-month gig at Hotel Utah in San Francisco, and were regulars at the Palms Playhouse when it was in Davis, Ca.

The band broke up in 1996.
