Lyrics & Music by Paul

************

December 1996

After sitting in front of my computer for the better part of an evening trying to write this damn column about the break-up of the band Lawsuit, I am suffering from a horrible case of writer's block. I seem to be unable to find the right eloquent or flowery thing to say on this subject. The only thing that continues to enter my head over and over again are two simple words... "Thank you."

I want to thank all of our fans who have come to our shows and enjoyed what they heard. I want to thank each one of you who has had kind or complimentary words about the band while you were buying a CD or signing the mailing list. This has made my job all the more special. You fans and your support of the band have been truly the greatest things about getting to be the product and mailing list guy for the band Lawsuit.

What I have grown to realize is that the music industry is kooky. Every show when new people hear the music and fall in love with it I am reminded that this band is something very special. I realize that our failure to "make it big" per se, is not due to poor musicianship, promotion, or lack of hard work and fan support, but to our not being in that proverbial right place at the right time.

So, as honestly and personally as I can extend this... Thank you!

about

LAWSUIT Davis, California

Once upon a time there was a band named Lawsuit. It was a 10-piece band, known for its quirky lyrics and its energetic live shows.

The band played up and down California, were popular at the UCD Whole Earth Festival, had a standing last-Friday-of-the-month gig at Hotel Utah in San Francisco, and were regulars at the Palms Playhouse when it was in Davis, Ca.

The band broke up in 1996.
