lyrics

I am a couch, and I live in a messy house
I sit around all day admiring a chair from far away
I'd tell the chair just this, but I'm afraid our relationship
Might turn around, and then we'd have a hard time being friends

I don't know what to do
The table told me to tell the truth
Coathanger tells me honesty is the best policy
Oh Boy!

I have a friend, the people in the house call him a bed
Toaster laughed at us when we ran down the hall making a fuss
I got stuck in the door, I couldn't even move an inch or more
When the people they came home, they said
WHO MOVED THE COUCH? OH NO! WE'VE BEEN ROBBED!

I don't know what to do
Did you fine me or did I find you?
All I want is a little fun and to run
Oh Boy!

I hate it when the little people
jump on me and they break my springs
They give the stove better attention
and they talk to the phone when it rings

I don't know what to do
They don't talk to me, they never do
The other appliances won't shut up
because I look at people's big butts
Oh Boy!

I am a couch, and I want to leave this house
If I were a bird I'd fly somewhere where I could be heard
I'd never have to sing...
sad songs about people breaking my springs
I'd find myself a chair...
or a pouf whose life with I could share

I don't know what to do
I hope these people get a clue
And send me far away from here, maybe over there
Oh Boy!

The band played up and down California, were popular at the UCD Whole Earth Festival, had a standing last-Friday-of-the-month gig at Hotel Utah in San Francisco, and were regulars at the Palms Playhouse when it was in Davis, Ca.
